I have ordered 2 DVDs on August 9, 2007 and today is September 11th 2007 but yet I have no clue about my DVDs. This is pathetic and very shameful thing for a name like AMAZON. I ask everyone not to buy anything before they commit you fast delivery.

I HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY DVDs YET.

For being one of the most popular movies of its kind, it really was a big waste of time. I never new a Steve McQueen movie could be so overrated until I saw this. I had never seen the movie until last week, and boy was I dissapointed. All these years of hearing and reading all the hype, for nothing. I admit I was convinced it was good even before I saw it, again, I was wrong. It is not that thrilling or suspensfull. I know it was based on the true story, and I admire the real POWs for everything they endured, but this movie does them a disservice by trying to make it funny at times. Not admirable. Don't waste your money, just rent it if you want to see it. Forgetable after its over and done with.

Ah geeze ..... For starters, the German officers acted more like a bunch of pissed off hair dressers on the rag, rather than cold blooded Nazis. The prisoners also seem to be a bit openly blatant in their attitude towards the Germans as they taunt the authority in charge. In a way the story is a borderline comedy. My father had spent time in in a prison camp in World War II, and in real life if anybody acted this way towards their captors believe me they would have been dissected and executed, in that order. The other part I'll never figure out is why Steve McQueen gets top billing in this flick. Most likely this was some kind of deal his agent struck with the producers. He only had a supporting role, and his acting is adequate at best. It's strange that the movie has a reputation that precedes itself. For quite some time all I heard was that this was Steve McQueen's classic performance that launched his image, yadda yadda yadda so in fact I liked the picture before I saw it, then I saw it. I didn't realize that all you needed to be the King of Cool is to look good on a motorcycle. I'm not saying he did a bad job in this movie, but his contribution is hyped waaay too much. But if you are a die hard McQueen fan, then ANYTHING he does is always going to outshine anything else, as opposed to keeping things in proper perspective. If there is anything good to state is that I think that The Great Escape is worth having in your DVD collection because it is afterall, a GUY flick, which is rare these days in the World of feminist dominated entertainment crap.

Children of Men, as you may already know, is a film about a future society (2027), where like V for Vendetta, Britain is portrayed by the government as the last bastion of normalcy in the world, and let me tell you it's not doing so well. Bombings, violence, and terrorism are common, apparently all due to the fact that several years prior, and this is the crucial idea, women stopped having babies.

That's all just set-up though, as we haven't got to the plot of the movie, which is where Clive Owen's character, Theo comes in. Theo is cynical about the world, and seems to be okay with just letting it go to the wayside, until his ex-wife meets up with him, and trusts in him a girl, more specifically a pregnant girl (which in a world without babies is pretty rare). From there the adventure begins...

Well, supposedly, because to me, this is sadly a simple, and obvious plot, and if it weren't for the exciting action sequences, particularly this one extremely long-shot sequence (which I will say is definitely impressive), then really I'd probably just give it two stars. However, unlike most two-star films I sensed effort and some albeit limited success with that effort, thus my deeming this film as mediocre as a 3-star film can be (instead of the poorer 2-star).

This flick is like a prequel to "Hogan's Heroes." The Allied POWs are plucky, cocky and handsome. The German soldiers who guard them are bumbling oafs. At the end of the movie the German guns come out and many of the POWs are slaughtered.

Disgusting.

Naturally, there are the people that will hate the movie for its violent content. I tend not to discriminate when it comes to violent content in movies. For example, Saving Private Ryan used violence to send a sincere message. Unfortunately, I cannot right-mindedly suggest that Fight Club had the same purposes in mind. The violence seemed quite sensationalized and the movie seemed not to emphasize the negative aspect of the 'Fight Club'. One example of this sensationalization is when they are destroying the businesses of various people through mischief. The music says, "Laugh, this is funny!" but it is obviously not. Perhaps the director went astray from what the author of the book had in mind, because I saw little seriousness in the subject with which "Fight Club" supposedly grapples with.

First of all...I truly hated it and yet liked it. Okay, I know you are wondering what kind of rating is that, but it is true. While I hated the film for it's violent content, I liked the quality of the story and the outstanding performances by Brad Pitt, Ed Norton, and Helena Bonham Carter. Any film that makes "Natural Born Killers" look like a Disney movie is a film that is truly not for everyone. My immediate reaction after seeing this film was that I would not encourage anyone to see this film, nor would I even want to review it for fear that it might spark someone to want to see it. I don't think I have ever seen a more violent movie nor do I ever want to see one. "Fight Club" is truly in a class by itself. It is a film that you would not want to take a date to, nor is it a film that will entertain you...I can't imagine someone running down to the local Blockbuster and picking it up for a quiet evening at home. I am not one for censorship nor am I one for banning a film, but I would seriously question the judgement of someone who viewed this film and considered it entertainment. The story centers around the relationship of two people, Pitt and Norton, and the enjoyment they get from beating the "heck" out of each other. They fight not for sport, but for the pure enjoyment they feel from the pain they inflict upon others and in return have inflicted upon them. Bottom line...I feel it's time we add another rating to our rating scale..."NRQ"..."No Redeeming Quality". This film has no redeeming qualities, is not entertaining, nor should anyone see it...but it definitely is one film like no other.

What an unadulterated load of left wing propaganda. A two hour lesson of how bad it is to be against illegal immigration. Fittingly, it is directed by a Mexican. Every scene drips with how nobel it is to be liberal. This was like watching a left wing politcal rally. What a crock. I guess if our world is to survive we must do away with conservative values and open our borders unrestrictively. Scientiste and homeland security ruined the world and it is up to old hippies and left wing beliefs to save it.
